THE GEORGETOWN STORY
I am often asked “Why?” Why would a woman with a career in consulting decide to open an Italian Fashion Boutique?
The answer is first and foremost all about you—the Washington woman whose personal and professional lives are seamless between work, recreation and family life—in politics, business, law, medicine, the arts, philanthropy and diplomacy.
The conventional wisdom about Washington is that we don’t care about style. Well, I beg to disagree! While we don’t want to be subject to the tyranny of trends, we do want to wear clothes that reflect who we are, that amplify our inner voice, create impact with subtlety, and travel well. That has been our mission with the Amina Rubinacci Boutique presence we have created at 2822 Pennsylvania Ave.
How did it happen? With the benefit of an extended network of Italian friends spanning three generations, I had done most of my wardrobe shopping in Italy for several years at small family-owned boutiques. Back in Washington, I received so many compliments on my clothing that I couldn’t help but feel a calling to bring a bit of Italy to DC. The dream became a reality in the Spring of 2014.
It wasn’t only the gorgeous clothes and accessories that I wanted to bring to Washington, but also the sense of a sacred place which is itself a statement in design, style and serenity. We are most proud that the shop environment creates an intimate and welcoming space—where women and their friends, partners and spouses enjoy visiting with one another and us!
